Professional courses are one of the secondary education pathways (10th, 11th and 12th years) that provide dual certification. It is a pathway that allows students to complete secondary education with a strong connection to the labour market, as the courses include both a theoretical and a practical component.
Upon completion of a Professional Course, students obtain secondary education certification (as in Scientific-Humanistic courses). However, these courses also provide professional certification, conferring Level 4 qualification of the National Qualifications Framework.
Just like students in Scientific-Humanistic courses, vocational education students can also apply to higher education. This is possible through national exams (the same for all students) or through a regional application process, where they can apply directly to the institution they wish to attend.
